It has two normally closed, positive-opening contacts and will provide a significantly higher level of safety than conventional spring-driven switches with contacts that can weld or stick shut. A positive-opening contact means that normally closed contacts don't depend on spring tension alone to open them, but are mechanically forced apart by direct pressure from the actuator (key). If the contacts stick together as a result of arcing or another failure, the actuator will force them apart.
