The IP rating is a standard created by the IEC (International Electro-technical Commission). It determines whether a product is resistant to dirt, dust or fresh water. The first digit (6) indicates that the cable glands are resistant to harmful dust, and the second digit (8) indicates that the cable gland can be submerged beyond 1 metre under fresh water. What is UL94? UL94 is a flammability safety standard for plastic parts such as cable glands, designed to determine whether a flame will extinguish itself or spread once the material has been ignited. The V2 indicates that a flame will stop burning within 30 seconds on a vertical item such as a cable.
