JST WC-122 Hand Crimping Tool for SHF Crimp Terminals Importance of a High-Quality Crimp When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between conductor and terminal. The other is the insulation crimp which provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is important that the electrical connection is gas tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. If there any voids present, then corrosion can occur causing resistance and excessive heat which damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure that a full, gas tight crimp is produced preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage JST WC-122 Hand Crimping Tool - Overview From JST a durable, reliable and easy to use hand operated crimping tool made from high quality materials. This crimp tool consists of two ergonomically designed handles with a soft grip for comfortable use, a ratchet mechanism, precision ground die assembly, locator and wire stop. The die assembly has three cavities for wire sizes 22 AWG, 24 AWG and 26/28 AWG. The pre-set load of the tool can be easily adjusted. Ratchet Mechanism The ratchet is pre-set to a specific force and remains locked until the handles of the tool are fully closed and the dies are bottomed. The handles cannot be opened until a full crimping cycle is achieved therefore preventing partial crimps. Once the cycle is complete the handles will re-open. The ratchet also enables the operator to repeatedly produce consistent, high-quality crimps. If jamming or terminal misplacement occurs the handles can be easily opened by pushing a ratchet release lever Locator and Wire Stop This hand crimp tool features a user friendly flap style locator which ensures the terminal is accurately positioned during the crimping process. The locator is simply flipped open allowing the terminal to be inserted into the correct profile. Once the terminal is inserted the locator is flipped back into place and the crimp tool is closed until the first ratchet. The pre-stripped wire is then inserted into the terminal until it butts against the wire stop, the hand tool can then be closed until the ratchet releases. The locator is opened and the full crimped terminal can then be carefully removed Key Features and Benefits • Durable and easy to use
• Precision ground dies
• Ratchet mechanism ensures full crimp cycle is achieved
• Ratchet release latch
• Locator and wire stop for accurate terminal positioning
• Easy re-adjustment of load
• Ergonomically designed soft grip handles for comfortable use Questions and Answers What Terminals can this Crimping Tool be used with?
This hand crimping tool is designed for crimping JST loose piece SHF-001T-0 un-insulated crimp terminals that accept a wire size range from 28 AWG to 22 AWG onto cable
