Optek OP230/1/2/3 Series IREDs The OP230, OP231, OP232 and OP233 series, from Optek Technology, are Infrared (IR) emitting diodes. They are in a TO-46 hermetically sealed package which enables high power dissipation. The TO-46 package also enables operation in hostile environments. These high intensity GaAs IR emitting diodes offer a narrow beam angle. This makes the OP230/1/2/3 series ideal for beam interruption applications.
Features of the OP230/1/2/3 series:
TO-46 hermetically sealed package
Narrow beam angle
Operating temperature: -65°C to +125°C

Tube Liquid Sensor The OPB350 series liquid sensor is designed to work with 3.2mm (1/8 inch) and 6.3mm (1/4 inch) outside diameter clear tubes. Used in conjunction with suitably designed output reference circuitry, output states such as "fluid present", "no fluid present" and "no tube present" can be recognised. Clear liquid present causes the phototransistor to sink the maximum current, while dark liquid present causes it to sink the minimum current. As bubbles pass through the tube, the signal will vary between the liquid present and no liquid states. If no liquid is present, the phototransistor sinks only a small amount of current. If no tube is present, the phototransistor sinks a larger current than in the no liquid state. Opaque plastic housing enhances ambient light rejection
Lead length 610mm, 26 AWG wire
Applications: non-contact sensing of oils and other petroleum products, coloured fluids, toner fluids and water

OPB827, OPB828 and OPB829Z Series Slotted Optical Switches This series of slotted optical switches, from Optek Technology, consist of an IR LED and an NPN silicon phototransistor. They sit within a black plastic housing, mounted on opposite sides of the slot. The OPB827 and OPB828 are designed for mounting on a PCB whilst the OPB829Z has 24 inch AWG wires.
The phototransistor switching occurs when the IR LED and phototransistor are interrupted by an opaque object passing through the slot. Suitable applications for these slotted optical switches include; non-contact object sensing, assembly line automation, machine automation, equipment safety and machine safety.
OPB830 and OPB840 Series Slotted Optical Switches This family of slotted optical sensors, from Optek Technology, enable you to create a custom device from a standard product line. This flexibility includes choices of aperture, shell material, and lead spacing. An opaque plastic housing minimises the sensitivity to visible and near IR light.
The parallel faces inside the slot are covered with an IR transmissive plastic or opaque plastic with an opening. The IR transmissive plastic is suitable for applications which require dust protection and the opaque is for applications that require maximum protection against ambient light.
Features of the slotted optical switches:
Slot width: 3.18 mm
Opaque or IR transmissive surfaces
Side mounted
Choice of lead spacing
OPB100 Series Optical Emitter and Sensor Pairs The OPB100 series, from Optek Technology, consist of optical emitters and sensors. The IR LED and the phototransistor come in separate plastic housings and can be purchased individually or together (OPB100Z). Their snap-in package design enables easy installation without any need for additional mounting hardware.
The emitter and sensor do not require precise alignment due to no aperture. They are designed for general switching and low speed data communication applications, for example; non-contact reflective objects, non-contact interruptive sensing, assembly line automation, machine automation and machine safety.
OPB100-EZ: IR LED
OPB100-SZ: Phototransistor
OPB100Z: Contains both OPB100-EZ and OPB100-SZ

OPB720A and OPB720B Long Range Reflective Switch The OPB720 Series has a logical output that switches from a high level with a reflective target, to a low level with no reflective target. With the addition of hysteresis, the sensor minimises switching oscillations on the output. The sensor distance that can be achieved is very dependent on the type of material used for the target Recognises objects as small as 2mm
Can be used in either reflective or interruptive mode
Ambient light rejection of <100k Lux
TTL/CMOS compatible
Cable length: 990mm
Size: 27.94 x 8.38 x 17.15mm
Applications: conveyer-belt package recognition, personnel movement recognition, near-focus security systems, wash and soap dispensing stations and product dispensing services
